the schedule, but little else is known for us so far. More info coming as
more comes in. Link for Old Cowtown
Museum.

cOLE cAMP was a very nice event, and the organizers plan
on having it again in 2011 for the 150th anniversary of the Battle.

A letter home from
a Private in the Ninth Texas about this event...

TRenton: Pictures up, and a
Private's Report on the event!
New pictures can be seen here!
Jeff City link is up. Check the schedule.
It is also a MWCWRA event, so your one time fee
of $10.00 has already paid for the event fee. (
if you have already paid it)
Information below in Mahaffie has been
updated... The Ninth is encouraged to
go...
Colonel Amend is really stressing the importance
of coming to Jeff City May 20-21 as he thinks
that event is going to have a strong strong
showing from the Federals. He says this is
being put on by Reenactors so it should be a
great event and have a great field to fight in
and he hopes all of us support that event.
He encourages us to get the word out to those
who were not at Trenton to get excited for Jeff
City!!!

mahaffie Station Is past!
$10.00 fee
for MWCWRA will be needed for those not paid
yet...
The MWCWRA issue was mostly decided on at
Trenton, and some info will be shared about that
with a report from Trenton soon. However,
the Ninth's next event will be the Mahaffie one
on the schedule. Most of us paid the 10
dollars for the insurance MWCWRA is supposed to
be carrying for events, but they couldn't
produce any documents and concessions were that
they would have those for us at Mahaffie.
For those not at Trenton, be ready to bring an
extra $10 Union dollars for this fee.

April 4th and 5th. Gun show event in
Wichita was a success at getting out the name of
the Ninth Texas and letting people know of the
unit and reenacting. Thanks to all who
participated. Looking forward to hearing
from those who expressed an interest in the
hobby.

Update Feb 26: New information on Spring Muster. Check the

Feb 16 update: From Herb
Shemwell a message about photographs:
a Notice from Herb Shemwell Pvt, Co C, #17 to his fellow
members of the Ninth

Ninth Texas Meeting; Feb 11, 2006
Members of the Ninth met up in Topeka over the weekend to decide on some issues
concerning the Ninth and the upcoming year. Following is some of the
issues decided upon.
A schedule was agreed upon, and will be updated throughout the year.
The April 22-23 event for Newtonia
will possible remain an event to look at in the future.
April 22-23 event at Mahaffie Station
The Pipestone MN
event is one where Brian has been
contacted and has been invited to bring the regiment, but at this time it is
only a Pipedream of ours to go.. if anyone is interested in going, Brian
encourages them to consider it, and to let him know...
The 145th First Manassas event was discussed as an alternative event for the
summer for anyone interested in going. Currently, Brian Cox (Topeka) and a few
others including possibly (Jamie Ralph) Wichita are interested in going.
This info is taken from the
First
Manassas Site.
| "In Commemoration of the 145th Anniversary of the Battle of
First Manassas originally fought on July 21, 1861, the Cedar Creek
Battlefield Foundation will host the event on its fields in
Middletown, Virginia as requested by the Mason-Dixon Alliance. 500
acres will be available for camping and battles. Participation will
be strictly limited to 12,000." |
Dues of 10 dollars US currency was decided upon for the membership to support
the new site and keep up our communication. This amount is less than is
needed, so any additional you can put into the 'regimental mascot' will help
offset costs incurred...
Supporting some local events was discussed and will be added to our schedule.
Check back for updates please.
One event discussed was the
Humboldt Triennial
event June 9-10-11 and our own Randy Downy was happy to share this
event. Tom Leahy will portray Mr. Lincoln and reenactors are needed to
portray Missouri State Guard for the 1861
burning of Humboldt ( Sat, June 10,
4:30 pm) Civil War Dance at 7 pm in the Humboldt Square.
Apparently there will be some real good support of the reenactors with free food
and a request by one of the 'establishments' for Randy to bring some of his
friends in... not sure what is meant by that, but sounds like a good time for
the soldiers... Visit here for information
